The MSPQC Perinatal Substance Use and Mental Health Initiative is focused on increasing awareness and improving understanding of substance use and mental health during pregnancy and the postpartum period. The initiative provides education and practical resources for healthcare providers, pregnant and postpartum women, families, and community partners to support informed decision-making and compassionate, evidence-based care.
Through webinars, educational materials, and collaboration with clinical and community partners, MSPQC shares current information, best practices, and tools that help strengthen care for women and families. The initiative also works to reduce stigma by encouraging respectful, supportive conversations about perinatal substance use and mental health and by promoting access to available resources and services.
This initiative is designed to support learning and quality improvement across Mississippi, helping providers and communities better meet the needs of women and families during pregnancy and the first year after birth.
