The “M.O.M” Survey
‘Mother’s Own Measure’ of Care
The Mississippi Perinatal Quality Collaborative (MSPQC) is collecting feedback from mothers who have given birth in Mississippi within the last two years. The goal is to better understand their experiences during hospital stays and use that insight to inform quality improvement efforts across the state.
MSPQC is using a Patient Reported Experience Measure (PREM), a brief, confidential survey that captures a mother’s perspective on the care she received. Unlike satisfaction surveys, PREMs are designed to highlight strengths and identify areas for system-level improvement. The feedback is not used to evaluate individual providers or hospitals, but to inform statewide learning and support best practices in perinatal care.
How Hospitals Can Support This Effort:
Hospitals are key to ensuring moms’ voices are heard. Partners can help by:
- Posting flyers in waiting areas, OB/GYN clinics, and discharge units
- Sharing the survey QR code or link with patients before discharge
- Encouraging staff to briefly explain the purpose of the survey
By working together, we can amplify patient voices and advance equitable, high-quality maternity care across Mississippi.
